One week from today, October 5th, THE BORDER VIXEN will be in stores. If you're a regular reader please buy it if you can that week. If I get a "surge" that first week you put me at #35 on the NYTimes Bestseller Extended List. Publishers like to see writers on the NYTimes. Of course if you pushed me up one to #34 I wound't mind. LOL! Remember that second hand sales don't count cause they don't show up for the publisher. Help your most faithful author stay in business. I've just begun Book 6 in The Border Chronicles today. Thanks!

Nine days until THE BORDER VIXEN comes into the stores. Once again, dear readers, I need your help. If you're buying the book new please try to get it in the first few days it's out. I need to stay on the NYTimes Bestseller Extended List, and you've put me there for the last 2 years. #35 for 1 week, but it makes my publishers consider that there's life in this old gal yet. And there is! Second hand sales don't count as the publisher has no record of those. Thanks so much for your support. God bless and Good Reading! You're going to love this one!

My oldest grandson has Aspberger's Syndrome which is on the autism scale. He is also bi-Polar. If you don't know what these are I suggest you Google them, and learn.
At the moment his parents and our school district are working to get him into a special school in Connecticut. He desparately needs to be there. Without meaning to he has his whole family which consists of parents, and 3 younger siblings in a continual state of uproar. His parents are beginning to grow weary, and struggle to soldier on for their own sakes, and those of the three others. His oldest sister is becoming resentful of being pointed out as his sister at school, teased and harrassed by some dumbasdirt older students who are too stupid to understand that because her brother has problems doesn't mean she does or is responsible for his behavior. She doesn't, by the way. The two younger ones are reacting to the constant chaos at home. The younger girl at least escapes to her school - the local Roman Catholic one - five days a week.
Please teach your children that if there are children who are "different" at their schools not to tease or harrass the siblings of that child. And learn what is different about these Special Needs students, and teach your children so they know too. Knowledge is power, people. Please don't be afraid of "different", and teach your kids not to be afraid either. Aspberger kids are very lonely kids.

Sarah Shourd has been released from her captivity in Iran after over a year. It has cost her family - an average American family - over half a million dollars to get her free. The Iranians call it "bail". I call it ransom because we all know - even the Iranians - that she isn't going back to Iran. And I would be amazed to see that money returned to her now debt-ridden family at some point in the future.
Why did the Iranians let her go now while retaining her two male hiking buddies? Sarah is ill. There is a lump in her breast, and pre-cancerous cells were found in her cervix. If she died in Iran's charge she would have become an American martyr exposing Iran's paranoia. The men running Iran right now couldn't have that happen. They are too certain of their own moral high ground.
And two young American men remain behind. What is their crime? They were hiking along the Iraq/Iran border with Sarah when the Iranians grabbed them. Those living along that border in Iraq say they were on the Iraqi side of the border. That the Iranians came after them. They are accused of spying. Spying on what? They were in a remote area with nothing but hills, rocks, goats, etc. It's obvious that Iran was looking to cause an international incident over nothing. Shame on them!
Please pray for the safety of those two young men. Pray that Iran's paranoia will ease enough that they too can be released "on bail". And pray that Sarah can be returned to the fullness of perfect health in the near future.

I am a Christian. I was born into the Anglican Episcopal tradition. I love the liturgy of my faith although I'll admit to not being crazy about modernizing the language of the prayer book. The church, in my not-so-humble opinion, is no place for political correctness. As a rule I keep my thoughts on this to myself. But I agree with that great queen of England, Elizabeth Tudor a.k.a. Elizabeth I, who is quoted as saying, "There is but one Lord Jesus Christ. The rest is all trifles." I respect all faiths because Jesus once said, "In my Father's house are many mansions." It would stand to reason that if you believe those words common sense would tell you that to get to all those mansions you would need many roads.
But as a woman of faith I am appalled by the man calling himself a pastor in Florida who has decided to burn the Holy Book of Islam on the 9th anniversary of 9/11. What can he possibly hope to accomplish by this? Can he turn back the clock to bring back all those innocents murdered that day? Will his actions give peace to their families? Men and women of all faiths like the Pope, the Reverend Franklin Graham, illustrious rabbis in the Jewish community, and learned imans in the Islamic community have appealed to him to cease these terrorist threats but he refuses. Sadly there are fanatics in all faiths. Those fanatics in Islam would wage war on all those they call non-believers. However how about those in Judism who will not recognize any who would convert to their faith? Who would turn away all not following their ancient rules? And let's hear it for those swell folks in the Christian community who brought us the Inquisition, the auto de fe, the Crusades, and the Salem witch trials. The fanatics in all faiths are in a minority. They are just noisier and more dangerous than the rest of us because when we see the evil they do we are overwhelmed by a sense of helplessness to stop them. It's easier not to get involved. Not to speak out, to speak up. Do you want you or your faith to be judged by the crazies espousing your religion? I don't.
I am tired of the "my god's better than your god" crowd. Like Anne Frank I believe people are more good than evil. The only being fit to judge us all, to judge this world in which we live is GOD Almighty. I will never presume to speak for GOD. The older I get I find I have more questions, and fewer answers. I don't understand why we just can't all live in peace. What a dull place our world would be if we were all alike. Think about it.

I am happy to say that Hurricane Earl was pretty much a non-event on the North Fork of Eastern Long Island. Made all the proper preparations for it as we haven't had a bad hurricane since 1991. In fact I don't think we've had a hurricane at all since 1991. The rains began about 10 a.m. Friday morning. But it wasn't steady. It came in fits and starts as the bands of wet moved in from the ocean and across the bay. We needed a good rain, and I think this gave it to us without destroying the crops. We are farm country out here. The winds were negligible throughout the whole thing. Our March nor'easter did more serious damage here. Not Earl. For us he was a prince of a fellow. The winds are blowing stronger now as the storm pulls away from us. It's a beautiful Saturday morning, September 4th, here. Not a cloud in the blue, blue sky, and bright sunshine. Also the front has moved down from Canada, and it's drier and cooler. 3 more weeks of summer, and then my favorite season of all. Autumn!

For those of you who haven't heard, the South Island in New Zealand had a 7.1 magnitude earthquake. To all my readers and friends in Christschurch and on all the island, keep safe. Prayers coming your way. God bless!
