Good news, dear readers! Avon Books now has the corrected version of THE KADIN in e-format. You will remember they put it up last November without the missing chapter. It is now there, and available for Kindle, Nook, Sony etc. Read and enjoy!

To all my readers and friends in New Zealand I am praying for you. To all my readers elsewhere I am sure you have heard of the terrible earthquake that hit Christschurch on South Island. Unlike the slightly larger quake in September 2010 this one was on a fault almost directly under the city. There has been much destruction and loss of life. Please say a prayer to the Celestial Actuary for the citizens of Christchurch and all of New Zealand.

A long time reader - Blue Diva - recently wrote to ask why I hadn't done any blogging of late. The truth is that I'm sick. Since I rarely get sick I always ignore the symptoms of my every two or three years attack of bronchitis until there is no choice but to acknowledge it. I've seen Christine, my Nurse Practioner, and I have a prescription if it gets worse. Hopefully rest, lots of OJ, chicken soup and Vicks will help me avoid an anti-biotic. It's particularly difficult right now as I am close to finishing the book due into NY in another month (3/15), and I'm pulling all the stuff together for the taxes for our accountant. BUT, as my dear friend, the late Jennifer Wilde use to say at moments like these, "Honey, Western Civilization as we know it won't crumble if....." That's a truth. The book will be in on time even if I take this week off to recover, and the taxes will get to the accountant a week later than I anticipated. So what? Everything will right itself in the end. The snow is gone from the front lawn. The back garden is melting a bit slower, but the days are longer, milder, and spring is just 34 days away. I'll survive.

Thank goodness it's February! It's a short month that usually speeds by, and let's hope it does this year. February being exactly 4 weeks matches March day for day until the 29th, 30th and 31st of that month. But February is a hopeful kind of month. How so? Well, four weeks from today is March 3rd. I find that very hopeful. And by the 20th of February two-thirds of winter the is officially over. If that doesn't make you feel good I doubt anything else will. Of course today is still February 3rd, and the snow is piled high on the side of the roads here. It's sunny, yes. But it's also bitter cold, and the wind is moving the clouds up in those blue skies very fast. The icecles are hanging from the eaves of the house and my herd of deer needing food is getting bigger. Yet if I'm just patient March will be upon us before you know it. I'm practicing my patience. How about you?
